HOW TO WEAR SHORTS IN MY 40’s
[dropcap]D[/dropcap]o you ever find yourself wondering if those adorable shorts were appropriate for your age? Does the idea of wearing shorts now that you’re in your 40’s trouble you? Perhaps, you aren’t there yet. But for the rest of us, moping around the question: “Can I still wear shorts?” is now a hard habit to break.
What do I say you ask? I say that in our 40’s, wearing shorts should not be an issue. Age is just a number when it comes to hemlines…I love wearing shorts, but to look stylish and appropriate, I do have rules for myself. And that, my friends, is what I am going to share with you today.
WHAT SHORTS TO WEAR?
➀. Mid-thigh length
As much as i can, I don’t go higher than a mid-thigh length. But If I do, I wear them during summer for a picnic, at the beach or around the pool.
Here are some examples:
1. Unionbay Solid Short 2. Hudson Rolled Short Jeans 3. Roxy Printed Short
➁. Straight Leg
The best kind of shorts for me is this one. Not only it goes comfortably but, looks classy as well.
Here are some examples:
1. Lucky Brand Bermuda Short 2. Lee Comfort Fit 3. Calvin Klein Linen Short
➂. Dark Wash Jean Shorts
I often take a darker wash over faded or frayed for jean shorts. It is more flattering and appropriate.
Here are some examples:
1. Dollhouse Boyfriend Short 2. Silver Bermuda Short 3. Silver Jeans Rolled Cuff Short
HOW TO WEAR SHORTS THAT LOOK STYLISH AND APPROPRIATE?
[dropcap]➀[/dropcap] Dress for your figure.
Know your figure and choose the right shorts. It’s all about dressing for your figure! I stay away from shorts that give extra bulkiness such as baggy cargo shorts and shorts with excessive pleats. If I want to look slimmer, I go for flat front and wide waistband instead.

[dropcap]➁[/dropcap] Keep your outfit Classy.
Shorts that on the more revealing side must be worn with top that has some coverage. Show them off, but not to the point where it looks tarty. Keep your outfit Classy. Shorts that cover just my bottom and the too trendy ones are best to leave to my daughter-in-law.

[dropcap]➂[/dropcap] Keep your outfit timeless.
Wedge heeled shoes and flat sandals are the best options to go well with dressing up the shorts in style. I often go with sneakers if a situation demands more comfort than fashion. Keep your outfit timeless.

Don’t over do accessories. A scarf is a fun accessory that can change the look of an outfit in one second. Try it!

[dropcap]⑤[/dropcap] Wear it with confidence!
Lastly and most importantly, wear the shorts with confidence! Remember that looking great at any age has a good deal to do with it.
As long as you choose the right shorts and keep your outfit classy, timeless and simple, wearing shorts in our 40’s can look stylish and appropriate.
Pssst!
Please note that this post is not a guide. This is simply an inspiration on how to wear shorts that I hope would dismiss the idea that 40 is the cut-off point for flashing legs in them. We should not be influenced by other people’s rules as to what we should and shouldn’t get into anymore. So,if you want to keep on showing off your pins for decades to come, go ahead as I definitely will!
